I’m Zoey Zhao, a filmmaker and editor passionate about cross-cultural storytelling. Over the past eight years, I’ve grown from working on large-scale Chinese productions with 1,000+ crew members to creating independent films in Canada that focus on raw, emotional truth.
This reel reflects that journey—from epic dramas like The Rise of Phoenixes to personal projects like Imperfect Love, where I directed, shot, and edited every detail.
At the heart of my work is an editor’s instinct: transforming fragments into powerful stories. My reel isn’t just a collection of scenes—it’s an invitation into a world that’s cinematic, authentic, and unafraid to bridge cultures.
